Cindy Sanyu, a singer, has spoken out about why she declined to perform at the Kats Promotion performance in Dubai over the weekend. (Cindy Sanyu explains why she cancelled her Dubai appearances)
Cindy Sanyu said to Spark TV that the mistake was not hers, but rather the promoter’s, who failed to keep his commitments.
She stated that she remained in her hotel room with her baby hubby because she would not perform unless she was paid as agreed upon prior to the concert.
The Boom Party singer went on to explain that she refused to attend the event since the promoter failed to meet their agreed-upon payment schedule.
The mother of two also stated that she wants to show promoters that she is no longer in the category of musicians that are booked for free gigs.
Unfortunately, I was unable to reach an agreement with the promoters who had scheduled me to play in Dubai.
This was due to the fact that when we left Uganda, we agreed on several terms and conditions that we would like them to follow, most of which dealt with money.
So, when they couldn’t collect my money, because music is business to me, that’s what occurred.
She also refused to be degraded to the level of artists whose salary is contingent on the number of fans present at the venue.
She then encouraged promoters to stop organizing events if they don’t have enough money, before adding that it’s not fair for an artist to perform for free.
Cindy also apologized to her followers for any problems caused by the show promoter’s misunderstanding.
My heartfelt apologies to the supporters in Dubai. For me, music is a business, so if there is no business, there is no music.
When you work with people who continue to disregard the terms and conditions, you have no alternative but to stand firm and let them decide.
By the grace of God, my colleagues and I have returned home safely. (Cindy Sanyu explains why she cancelled her Dubai appearances – CELEBRITY JAZZ UG )
