COVID-19 has claimed the lives of many people and is spreading at an alarming rate.
Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng remarked on Twitter that Uganda has seen a significant increase in COVID-19 patients, contrary to the stable trends of recent months.
“In comparison to the stable trends we’ve had since January 2022, we’ve started seeing an increase in the daily number of COVID-19 cases.” Dr. Aceng tweeted, “This spike is identical to the rise we saw in June 2021 when the Delta variation was widespread.”
“However, we are better prepared as a country to respond and save lives than we were previously.” In the current situation, there are no indications of travel restrictions or lockdown. At the individual and community levels, we will optimize the existing control and mitigation methods.
“Vaccination for all individuals, wearing of face masks at all times, especially for the vulnerable population, and hand washing are among these methods. Keep yourself safe and Uganda safe. It’s conceivable!” She continued,
Ugandans, on the other hand, should begin following SOPs and wearing masks, according to Health Minister Dr. Jane Aceng, and they should not be concerned about the lockdown.
“No. There are no plans in place for a lockdown. We will continue to improve current prevention and control measures such as adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs), hygiene, and COVID-19 vaccination,” says Dr. Aceng.
