Daddy Andre shared some music knowledge while responding to a question about the ratio or percentage a singer, producer, composer, and songwriter deserves from music projects.
He also emphasized that distribution companies are not required to deduct any money from the producers’ and songwriters’ percentages.
He explained that the current challenge for producers in Uganda is that many people are unaware of the laws that govern music and publishers, and as a result, they are frequently duped.
Daddy Andre also advised musicians to learn how to divide profits from musical projects with the people with whom they collaborate.
In Uganda we are not yet well informed about how we can well split the shares from musical projects. Though it is required by law so that writers can have their fair share and profit from their work.
