Norbert Mao, the leader of the Democratic Party, has been appointed minister of justice and constitutional affairs by President Yoweri Museveni in accordance with the constitution.
Muruli Mukasa, the current Public Service Minister, filled the position on an interim basis. Hon. Major General Kahinda Otafire served as the Ministry’s political leader in the past.
This rendezvous was made within a few hours after the two presidents met at the Entebbe State House and agreed to collaborate.

President Yoweri Museveni, who is also the chairman of the NRM, commended DP for making what he called a mature, strategic, and positive political move.
Richard Todwong and Gerald Siranda, the Secretaries General of NRM and DP, respectively, also attended the conference.
Although the details of the signed Memorandum of Understanding are yet unknown, based on how things now stand, it appears to be a marriage for the two parties.

The President made a suggestion on Wednesday that the DP is a non-serious organization without the NRM.
“You are aware of the past. Because I was a very active member of DP, I keep reminding you that DP without Museveni is not a real organization, Museveni stated.
He continued by expressing his happiness at reaching this goal. Although DP has been supporting the opposition, he claimed that their actions have been constructive rather than hostile.
