The Bayimba International Festival of Music and Arts has prioritized Uganda’s alternative musicians since 2008, with one or two mainstream musicians occasionally getting a chance. (Bayimba plays popular music for the crowd )
The 2009 Bayimba competition saw mainstream vocalist Gravity Omutujju receive a mention, but the 2022 Bayimba proved to be different as mainstream musicians ruled at Lunkulu Island.
After the global epidemic, the four-day festival returned on August 24. Cindy Sanyu and renowned indigenous DJ Suuna Ben opened the festival.
Suuna Ben was the ideal performer for the proper audience given the significant turnout of villagers from the nearby village, whose musical performance was eagerly anticipated.
The renowned Binyanyaanya Dj, also known as Suuna, delighted partygoers and left them begging for more of his rib-tickling musical combinations. In honor of the festival’s return, fireworks were set off at midnight to cap the performance.
Day two began with the Afrigo Band giving fans greater service. Later, singer/producer Daddy Andre, who proved to be so mainstream with a much more conventional music delivery, took the stage.
Day three of the Bayimba Festival featured a significantly improved Spice Diana who complemented the backline if you’ve ever seen the singer perform live instruments.
Spice Diana’s mood was greatly improved by singer Pallaso, who entered the stage with a freestyle on a live band and sang more than ten songs to a wildly enthusiastic audience that wouldn’t stop dancing and singing along.
A concert by Ethno International took place after a peer-to-peer learning arrangement in which young artists from various nations taught each other the music from their respective nations and cultures.
Ragga Dee, Chance Nalubega, King Saha, and DJ Shiru among others also gave performances. ( Bayimba plays popular music for the crowd – Love and relationship )
