On Saturday evening, around 5:30 p.m., the incident occurred. The children were playing in the rain when a lightning bolt struck, killing the teenager instantly and injuring his peers. The injured were taken to Biiso Health Center IV and are being treated.
Okecha, the deceased’s father, told URN that he was away from Buliisa when he learned of his son’s death.
It is unfortunate that I have lost my child to lightning. “I put everything before God because I’m currently speechless and out of the district,” Okecha explained.
After the lightning bolt, Vincent Othuba, a resident of Biiso Trading Centre, said he heard children screaming for help. He claims that they rushed to save the children only to discover one of them dead. Buliisa district health officer Dr Nelson Naisye says those who were rushed to Biiso health centre IV are responding well to treatment.
