Bul FC, the tournament’s runners-up last year, advanced to the semi-finals with a 2:1 victory over 2015 champions SC Villa at Njeru technical stadium.
Bul FC had to come from behind to win 2:1, despite playing over 60 minutes with a man down, thanks to goals from Karim Nduggwa (34) and Ibrahim Nsimbe’s extra-time winner in the 105th minute.
SC Villa, who had defeated Onduparaka and Express in the previous two rounds, took the lead in the 15th minute through Sadam Masereka, but Ndugwa equalized for the jinja side. In the 68th minute, George Kasonko was sent off, leaving the oil manufacturers with 10 men on the field for the remainder of the game.
