Edirisa Musuuza alias ‘Eddy Kenzo’ has received another nomination and will compete in the Headies Awards 2022 alongside Tanzanian music heavyweights Diamond Platinumz and Harmonise, among others. The Headiest (formerly known as the Hip Hop World Awards) is a music awards program hosted by Nigeria’s Hip Hop World Magazine, which was founded in 2006 to honor outstanding achievements in the Nigerian music business. The yearly event features performances by well-known and up-and-coming performers.
Young Mandela will compete for the Headier Plaque at the 15th Headiest Awards with other artists such as Meddy (Rwanda), Nikita Kering (Kenya), and Zuchu from Tanzania at a red-carpet event on September 4th, 2022 at Cobbs Energy Performing Center in Atlanta, USA.
With the award’s expansion outside of Nigeria’s borders to one of the world’s most important music capitals, Atlanta, USA, this year’s nominations have been broadened to include more African regions and artists.
This has increased the number of Award categories from 26 to 35, with a total of 118 nominees, 27 of whom are from outside of Africa, including Benin Republic, Tanzania, Rwanda, DR Congo, Cameroon, Carpe Verde, Kenya, Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco, Algeria, South Africa, Mali, Mozambique, Sao Tome & Principe, Uganda, and Ghana.
