Ugandan Siki Kigongo
founding father of Amagara Skincare, a producer of organic personal care goods. Her experiences while residing in the UK served as the inspiration for the company. She would bring home gifts of cosmetics around the holidays. “Friends and family were always happy with the items, but I started to wonder why we had to import them from outside when Uganda has all the raw materials required to produce high-quality cosmetics and beauty products,” she said.
To create goods manufactured from fruit, vegetable, and other plant extracts, Kigongo engaged the aid of regional experts. Amagara now sells hand creams, shower gels, body butters, lotions, and hand washes. The Uganda Industrial Research Institute in Kampala produces all of the goods, however some of the packaging is imported from China.
Many Ugandans think that imported goods are superior to those found locally. Therefore, worldwide companies like Nivea, Revlon, and L’Oréal are our major rivals.
We are attempting to alter people’s perspectives by providing them with locally manufactured goods that meet worldwide standards.
