Former Ethics and Integrity Minister Maria Matembe has issued a warning to all artists who have made it a habit to sing while naked to stop. (ARTISTS – STOP GOING NAKED! SAYS MIRIA MATEMBE )
The vocal Matembe stated on NBS TV’s After 5 random street interviews that music is a profession like any other. It has the potential to promote values. Matembe also expressed her disdain for performers who engage in inappropriate dress and dancing. She advised young people to use their profession positively and to avoid negative consequences.
“I WANT TO TELL THE YOUTHS THAT AS THEY ARE ENTERTAINED BY MUSIC, THEY SHOULD KEEP IN MIND THAT THERE ARE VALUES.” I HATE THESE YOUTHS WHO STRIP NAKED AND DIRTY DANCE. MUSIC IS AN ART FORM THAT CAN ALSO BE USED AS A PROFESSION WITHOUT BEING SPOILT. SO LET THEM HAVE FUN AND DANCE IN THEIR OWN WAY. “I used to dance and sing, but not like a spoiled brat,” MATEMBE explained.
However, given the current trend of musicians, it appears that this advice will be ignored. Most mainstream female artists have taken dirty dancing and indecent clothing to new heights. There is nothing inspiring about their lyrics, videos, or social media lifestyle. And if they do sing a motivational song, it’s probably just a commercial to catch people’s attention.
