Jenifer Bamuturaki, the new CEO of Uganda Airlines, has been appointed by President Museveni as the airline’s substantive CEO. (Bamuturaki is the new CEO of Uganda Airlines )
The Works and Transport Minister, Gen Katumba Wamala, informed the Uganda Airlines board of the development in a letter dated July 5, 2022.
“Reference is made to a letter Ref. No. PO/28 dated April 24, 2022 from H.E the President of the Republic of Uganda in respect of the above-mentioned subject matter () copy attached for ease of reference.” “The purpose of this letter is to bring the directive to your attention for consideration,” said Gen Katumba.
Bamuturaki, a marketer with over 20 years of experience, had previously served as the national carrier’s Commercial Manager but had been forced out after completing her probation.
She was, however, appointed as acting CEO of the airline in February of this year to ensure her return to the fold of the national carrier.
The move came after the then-CEO, Cornwell Muleya, was suspended and then fired in April 2021.
Muleya is currently facing charges of disobeying lawful orders after refusing to answer questions from the IGG regarding investigations into mismanagement of the national carrier during his tenure as CEO.
Look for a new CEO.
The airlines announced last month that they were looking for a new substantive CEO to run their operations.
“Uganda Airlines would like to hire a chief executive officer who will be responsible for leading and driving the airline’s business and success.” “The (CEO) will be in charge of developing and implementing the airline’s strategy,” the national carrier stated in the advertisement.
