Born on January 7 1990, Mugume is currently on the peak of his journalism career at Next Media’s NBS TV where he co-anchors news. He also currently works as a Leo Africa Emerging Young Leaders Program Fellow.
Biography.
Canary Mugume grew up in Mbarara, western Uganda. He attended Mbarara Municipal Primary School for his P.L.E, Mbarara Secondary school for his U.C.E and Lutembe International School for secondary education for his A level.
Mugume also holds a degree in information technology and computer engineering from the International University of East Africa. He holds certificates in TV production and New Trends in Journalism from the US Agency for Global Media and from the Institute for the advancement of journalism respectively.
Career
As a journalist, Mugume kicked off his career at Radio West in Mbarara where he used to read news for kids aged six to thirteen years
He worked with Channel 44, a Christian broadcasting channel founded by Pr. Robert Kayanja, trained with Urban TV and is currently a news anchor and the chief COVID-19 correspondent at NBS TV.
Aside from that, he authors a column in the Nile Post news portal for very weekend dubbed ‘My Parting Shot.” He also hosts a Saturday political show on NXT Radio named ‘The Big talk.’
The baby-faced Canary is also a model, having trained at Kat Modelling Agency based in Kenya. He is now the CEO of Version 86 and works at Fashion Republique as a creative director.
Personal Life.
Canary Mugume has for a long time been dating a one, Sasha Ferguson whom he met during his high school days and has been dating since.
Last year in September, news portals were awash with snapshots of the couple getting officially married at Miracle Cathedral Rubaga where they exchanged marriage vows
Their marriage was officiated by Pr. Robert Kayanja amidst heightened excitement from netizens.
