Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu nicknamed Bobi Wine, the president of the National Unity Platform (NUP), has disowned controversial Turkey-based blogger Fred Kato Lumbuye due to indiscipline and double standards.
Former Mityana South legislator Ssozi Kaddu Mukasa, who now works for Buganda-owned BBS TV, questioned Bobi Wine about charges that he is behind bloggers such as Lumbuye who harass and abuse Buganda Kingdom officials.
Bobi Wine acknowledged that he has no control over those who pretend to be affiliated with his party yet use social media platforms to smear others’ reputations for personal gain.
“As Omuganda, I used to talk to my premier (Charles Peter Mayiga).” I respect him and the other leaders of the kingdom, and I cannot support someone who attacks them. Apart from Lumbuye, there are other bloggers who use our party to criticize various people, and we have no authority over them; whatever they do, they do on their own,” he stated.
He said that some of these people are just disobedient, which is why they attack their own party’s leadership and other strongmen in the opposition.
He went on to say that when these claimed NUP followers attack someone, the public assumes they are acting on his orders.
Bobi Wine, on the other hand, told the former MP that those bloggers occasionally have a point, such as when they talk about a hidden self-destruction plot
He went on to say that it’s sad that many Baganda elites are unable to oppose President Museveni’s government’s enormous land evictions and land grabs.
