Carol Nantongo decided to leave the Golden Band music group over a year ago to focus on her solo career, which she is doing well in. ( Carol Nantongo – I left the Golden Band due to politics)
The reasons for her departure from band music at the time were not fully disclosed. She retained events promoter KT promotions as her management.
Recently, while speaking an interview on Galaxy FM, Nantongo disclosed that she decided to ditch band music because the group was marred with political differences.
First and foremost, I left Golden Band because it was tainted by politics.
There was a period in the band’s history when politics ruled and things were not going well.
She went on to say that there was a time when people saw the group as a political band, and anytime one of them took the stage, the audience assumed they belonged to at least one political party, which she didn’t like.
She opted to leave at that point in order to advance her music career to the level she desired, which she is now proudly achieving.
When someone took the stage, the audience regarded them as a yellow, red, or blue supporter. So anytime someone said something hurtful, it wasn’t intended at just one person, but at all of us.
So, at the time, people thought of our band as a political band. It seemed clear to me that it would jeopardize my new career. That’s when I made the decision to leave.
