On Saturday night, Jose Chameleone was scheduled to perform at a concert in Randburg, South Africa.
Last night, videos of Ugandans burning posters bearing Chameleone’s face went viral on the internet.
The men who set fire to the posters advertising Chameleone’s event kept shouting at the top of their lungs, threatening the singer that his show would be canceled.
“We told you not to perform in South Africa, and today you slept in jail.” Your rules are only in effect in Uganda. One individual can be heard mockingly saying in one of the vedios, “You will not perform here in South Africa!” A lady is heard telling how the musician was briefly detained by police at a hotel in Sandton in a video published by prominent blogger Kakensa.
Other unsubstantiated accounts claimed that the father of six was arrested and sent to jail, where he spent the night.
According to reports, the arrest was ordered by a woman named Zaina Muwonge, who is demanding 80,000 Rands (Ugx18.7m) from him for failing to perform at an event for which he had previously been scheduled.
The reports were swiftly debunked by Chameleone’s South African connections. They requested that the public dismiss allegations that the singer had been arrested.
“Any speculations regarding Chameleone getting detained are false. Chameleone’s close buddy Batt Badru said on Facebook, “I’m live and direct on the scene,” before releasing a live video with the singer, his brother Weasel, and other pals at a hotel.
During our conversation, a source verified that an attempt was made to apprehend Chameleone, but he managed to elude capture.
Before leaving for Cape Town, Chameleone went on to perform with Kalifah Aganaga at a performance in Ferndale, Randburg, Johannesburg.
The Leone Island chief revealed that he had been threatened via Twitter. He tagged former AIGP Asan Kasingye in a video of a man wielding a pistol.

Chameleone was supposed to appear in South Africa in 2015 at a concert named ‘Wale Wale,’ in which he was supposed to perform in East London, Durban, Cape Town, and Pretoria, according to Zaina, but he didn’t show up and refused to refund the money.
She further alleged that she gave Chameleone another Ugx11 million for the purpose of transporting him and his entourage to South Africa, and that she booked lodgings for Chameleone and his entire crew, but that the singer turned off his phone on the eve of his trip, much to her surprise.
