A 39-year-old man was arrested in Amuria district for slapping the Minister of State for Works and Transport, Hon Musa Ecweru. ( In church – a man slaps Hon Musa Ecweru – Minister of State for Works and Transport )
According to ASP Ageca Oscar Gregg, the PRO East Kyoga, the incident occurred on Sunday, June 26, 2022 at around 11:30am in Wera parish, Wera sub-county, Amuria district.
Okurut Micheal, a 39-year-old male adult, approached the altar with the other congregants during the Sunday service at St. Micheal Catholic Church.
He knelt and asked for his blessings.
Okurut then stood up and slapped the minister during his sermon.
The minister’s bodyguards quickly apprehended the man who wanted to give him another hot slap.
“No harm was done to the Minister’s person,” said ASP Ageca Oscar Gregg.
The Wera Police Station, on the other hand, opened a case and took statements from both the minister and the man.
As inquiries and investigations into the incident begin, the suspect is now at the same station.
“Updates will be made available as they become available,” ASP Ageca Oscar Gregg added.
