Kenya’s third president, Mwai Kibaki, was declared dead by President Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday, April 22, 2022.
From 2003 to 2013, Mwai Kibaki served as Kenya’s third president. He was 90 years old at the time of his death, and the cause of death has yet to be established.
While announcing Kibaki’s death, Krenyatta also ordered that the Kenyan flag be flown half-mask from Friday till he is buried.
President Kenyatta said that the former president would be granted a state funeral.
The president, the vice president, the chief justice, cabinet secretaries, the speaker of the National Assembly, the speaker of the Senate, Kenya’s diplomats abroad, and anyone else so authorized by law, shall not fly the national flag on the official montorcade for today until sunset on the day of his interment, kenyatta directed.
We recall the values he upholds and the ideals he adopted, such as his dignity and dedication, candor, and respect for the wishes of all Kenyans. Kenya’s economy grew steadily under Kenyatta’s leadership as finance minister and vice president, fueled by a commodities boom and fiscal monetary policies that were the cornerstone of his economic theory.
Kibaki leaves behind four children.
