The NUP’s General Secretary, David Lewis Rubongoya, who was arrested earlier today on suspicion of threatening Health Minister Dr. Jane Aceng with violence, has been released on bond.
Police confirmed that Rubongoya was being held at Natete police station, where he was re-arrested after being released from the Wandegeya Police post, through Deputy Police spokesperson Patrick Onyango.
NUP spokesperson Joel Ssenyonyi slammed the Police for dismissing the case against Rubongoya as bogus.
Ssenyonyi claimed that the police should have arrested all NUP members in Omoro County campaigning for Simon Tolit Akecha rather than just one.
The Police, on the other hand, stated that Rubongoya was arrested as a result of an incident in which he and his driver followed Dr. Aceng with the intent of intimidating and threatening her.
After posting the bond at 7:25 p.m., Rubongoya announced his release on Twitter. (NUP General Secretary Rubongoya has been released on bond – celebrity Gossip 2022)
