Recently, President Museveni shared a photo of himself driving, something which prompted the lawyer to write to the Ministry of Works and Transport.
Prove Museveni has a Driving Permit? – City Lawyer Male Mabirizi continues to demand.
In the letter, Mabirizi tasks the ministry to avail him a copy of Museveni’s driving permit arguing that the President, being old may have lost proper eyesight.
If it is discovered the president has a driving permit, he will have committed an offense contrary to section 58(1) of the Traffic and Road safety act which states “A person disqualified from getting a driving permit and is found with one commits an offense.”
And if he has no permit, the president will still have committed an offense contrary to section 35(1) of the same act which states ” A person shall not drive any class of Moro vehicle unless he or she has a copy of the valid driving license in respect of that vehicle punishable by six months imprisonment.”
He has given the government an ultimatum of 21 days after which, failure to produce the said documents will have to open criminal proceedings against the Permanent secretary of the Ministry of Works and Transport
