Kibiri police conducted an operation in Busabala against bars that play loud music, arresting seven persons from two pubs. (Seven people have been arrested for noise pollution – and the cops are crackdown on bars)
This is in response to public outrage and a mandate from the Deputy Inspector General of Police for territorial police to collaborate with environmental police to reduce noise pollution.
The suspects are currently being held at Katwe Police Station on noise pollution charges.
The police and community had filed multiple complaints and warnings about the loudness coming from their establishment prior to their arrest.
“The Police would want to remind the public to always be considerate of their neighbors and only use the required decibels in a residential area,” says ASP Luke Owoyesigyire.
