A 22-year-old Ugandan student’s body has been repatriated after she died after falling from the sixth story of her university hostel in Bengaluru, India. (The body of a Ugandan student who died after falling from the sixth floor of a building in India has arrived in Uganda)
The body of Agasha Asiina landed at Entebbe International Airport around 2 p.m. on Thursday.
Her family, Asiina, a final-year student pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration at Gitam University, died on April 27, 2022 under suspicious circumstances.
According to Indian media reports, Asiina’s life ended in a variety of ways.
According to some sources, she was involved in an accident, while others believe she was forced from the building, and still others allege she committed suicide.
According to the Hindustan Times, Asiina died while being transported to the hospital for treatment.
Her death sparked a student protest in which they blamed the university administration of failing to place safety barriers around the windows.
Asiina, who resided on the seventh floor, is said to have gone to collect her washed clothes when she noticed a bedsheet near the window and went to get it. The circumstances surrounding her fall from the window are still being investigated.
However, Asiina’s family claims that she unknowingly trod on a wooden floor that was too weak to sustain her weight, causing it to collapse.
Her father, Abudallah Kanyemera Mukasa, informed this magazine that the family plans to sue the university for negligence that resulted in his daughter’s death.
According to him, the university’s original statement indicated that Asiina committed suicide, but after the police investigation and release of the autopsy results, the university management modified their statement, portraying Asiina’s death as an accident.
“Why did it take four days for her postmortem report to be released? After the autopsy, the police gave the report to the university and informed the family, but they (the institution) were hesitant to provide it to us “Ibrahim Kamyem, Asiina’s brother, stated.
Assiina was supposedly studying in India on a scholarship.
