Hellen Lukoma, a gifted singer and actress, has criticized Ugandan deejays for never giving local music adequate airtime in comparison to foreign music. (Ugandan DJs are criticized by Hellen Lukoma for not playing native music)
Hellen Lukoma urged deejays to start providing local music as much broadcast as they do with international music while making an appearance on NTV.
According to Hellen Lukoma, the majority of local deejays only play local artists’ songs after receiving payment, and if an artist doesn’t do so, they avoid playing their music.
Lukoma then questioned whether artists from other countries also had to pay a fee before their song could be played nonstop.
I don’t understand why most deejays in Uganda like playing foreign songs but are unable to play ours with the same enthusiasm.
It truly surprises me because after paying you, they keep playing your music, much like big-name artists like Chris Brown do.

She urged Ugandan deejays to show their national pride rather than wait to be compensated before promoting local content because no one pays them to play foreign music. (Ugandan DJs are criticized by Hellen Lukoma for not playing native music – celebrity jazz ug)
