Singer Leila Kayondo believes King Saha has the support of many other top artists because he is approachable, as opposed to his competitor Cindy Sanyu. (UMA Rules: Why Does Leila Kayondo’s Vote Go to King Saha )
The self-proclaimed “Commando” recently stated publicly that she will vote for King Saha in the upcoming UMA elections.
She reasoned that King Saha’s manifesto appears to have solutions to many problems that she, as a singer, is familiar with.
“Despite being friends with King Saha, I had to decide who would be a better leader for me as an artist,” Leila Kayondo said recently.
“During a recent conversation with King Saha, the topic of UMA presidency came up, and we had a lengthy WhatsApp conversation.”
“He later inquired as to my location and personally came to meet with me to discuss his plans for the association and the entertainment fraternity.”
“As a singer, his manifesto contained ideas that I have always believed would solve my problems as a singer, so he will receive my vote,” Leila Kayondo said.
When asked why she hasn’t met with the other candidates vying for the presidency of the association, Kayondo stated that she hasn’t been approached by them.
She maintained that, despite having no ill will toward Cindy, the self-styled King Herself has not approached her to solicit her vote.
Cindy and I are friends. We do talk every now and then, but she hasn’t told me what she plans to do for artists.
Maybe she doesn’t think I need to know, and there’s nothing wrong with that.
“I will vote for Saha because I know his intentions are good.” “He appears capable,” she added.
Leila Kayondo made the remarks during an interview with Tuff B on NBS TV’s KURT show on Saturday.
Many viewers were taken aback when Leila Kayondo admitted that she is not a registered member of the Uganda Musicians Association.
