VJOJ is a UK-signed Afrobeat Artist, Producer, and Film Director from Uganda who has teamed up with Crystxl King, a London-born Singer/Songwriter and Social Entrepreneur.
The Caribbean islands of Dominica and St Lucia are were Crystxl King grew up. This summer 2022, she teams up with VJOJ to bring something exceptional to the international Afrobeats scene.
‘Weakness,’ which is filled with several layers of cultural tones, has seductive lyrics in a combination of English and Caribbean twang, as well as the poetically enrapturing Ugandan language Luganda.
The result of two London residents writing and performing a unique Afrobeat song inspires hope that it would bridge the Atlantic airwaves and gain widespread international acclaim, accompanied by a music video that is a vision of afro-futurism and black brilliance.
When the two artists collaborated on an epic visual, Crystxl King wrote and co-directed the concept, which was filmed by VJOJ’s own production company, Firstchoice Filmz, in the United Kingdom.
The music video for Weakness features the musicians as King and Queen in opulent royal future settings, with Crystxl serving as the bold and powerful King VJOJ’s only ‘weakness’ through her power and seduction.
The video examines vulnerability in relationships and portrays black love in a lovely manner.
