Singer Sheebah’s sexual assault charges have been described as a “sickening publicity hoax” by celebrated journalist Andrew Mwenda.

Sheebah Karungi stated publicly at the start of the week how a VIP sexually abused her while she was at an event over the weekend.
Despite not revealing the identity of the molester, the former Team No Sleep singer Sheebah Karungi stated that the man in question, together with his security, approached her car moments before she got on stage and improperly grabbed her.
“This elderly pervert was attempting to be amusing with me. They had just unlocked my car door with his security team and discovered me asleep as I was about to get on stage. He was attempting to be impolite in front of my team members… There was no shame, no sorrow, nothing” Sheebah
Immediately after Sheebah recounted her trauma, netizens demanded that she identify the molester so that he might be apprehended.
Rumors began to circulate about Sheebah’s performance at Prof. Gilbert Bukenya’s party. Other accusations were leveled at Andrew Mwenda as well.
In a lengthy Facebook post on Friday morning, the creator and owner of The Independent dismissed Sheebah’s charges.
Mwenda claims in his statement that Sheebah does not disclose the event, time, date, or location of the incident in her whole video.
He also mentions that the singer did not specify whether or not she was raped. He thinks it’s remarkable that a woman of her height can be raped in such a humiliating and painful way, and instead of reporting the culprit to the police, she posts about it on social media.
I find it remarkable that a woman of her stature can be assaulted in such a humiliating and painful way, and instead of reporting the culprit to the police, she posts about it on social media. To what end? Sympathy? Why not use the police and the courts to pursue justice? In any event, she could have pursued both: public sympathy and justice in the courts of law.
He claims he has never met or heard of Sheebah before the video surfaced and allegations were leveled against him.

Mwenda further claims that when he attempted to contact Sheebah via WhatsApp to inquire about the allegations, she simply ignored him.
He believes she is acting and that the incident never occurred, or that if it did, she viewed it as an opportunity to execute a PR stunt. (“Who is Sheebah – and how can I bang someone I’ve never met?” Andrew Mwenda argues for himself – celebrity jazz ug)
