King Saha couldn’t contain his excitement after learning that the Uganda Musicians Association (UMA) had decided to hold voting by secret ballot. ( I will be declared the winner – King Saha on the Uganda Musicians Association’s decision to hold a secret ballot )
UMA revised its initial plan to hold online voting for various positions in the association on June 10th.
“The elections on June 6, 2022 were halted due to technical difficulties with the digital platform requested from the National Information Technology Authority (NITA-U),” UMA explained.
The association stated in a statement that there were technological glitches during the online election process, which was held at the National Theatre on June 6, 2022.
The elections were halted, and it was decided at a board meeting that the voting would be redone on June 28, 2022, using a physical secret ballot at the National Theatre Gardens polling station.
“Following guidance from the UMA Policy Board, I have decided to organize the polls in the next two weeks so that the association does not continue without leadership any longer,” said Mr. Geoffrey Ekongot, Chairman of the UMA Electoral Committee.
When the news reached King Saha, the UMA presidential candidate rejoiced and declared that he would now win the election.
The Zakayo singer believes that the process is now transparent, and he will go to any length to protect his votes.
“I am confident that the secret ballot will be free and fair.” Our campaign agents will be able to protect our votes. “I believe I will be declared the winner,” he said during an interview with a local radio station.
It should be noted that by the time the elections were called off on June 6th, Saha’s main rival Cindy Sanyu had taken the lead.
