StarTimes, Uganda’s leading pay TV provider, has launched Makula Television today, June 27th, 2022, in an effort to promote and support more local art.
Makula TV is a new family television channel on StarTimes platforms that is primarily targeted at global audiences who understand the Luganda language. Channel 228 on an antenna decoder and channel 492 on a dish platform. Makula TV will provide unique programming that will allow viewers to enjoy nonstop Luganda art 24 hours a day, seven days a week, hence the slogan “Kazannyo Ku Kazannyo.”
The channel will continuously broadcast Luganda series, comedy, drama, and Telenovelas. The first titles to be aired include: Donabella, starring Charles Ssenkubuge Siasa, Leila Kachapizo, Aisha Kyomuhangi, Benon Kibuka, and others. The channel will also air the most captivating comic drama, “Waiter,” starring the Zubair family, including Faisal Katumba aka Sendi, Bbosa Sserunkuma, Sophie Kawooya, and others
StarTimes has recently made significant investments in the promotion and development of local content, such as the StarTimes Uganda Premier League, and the launch of Makula is an extension to the female audience.
